ATV is short for
"All-Terrain Versatility". The ATV Grind wedges are designed to help
golfers execute a number of short-game shots with one club. The
All-Terrain Versatility sole gives you a variety of bounce angles
depending on the face angle. Hit a chip, pitch, or flop from any lie!
•
According to Brian Bazzel, TaylorMade's Product Manager, the ATV’s
unique sole geometries, allow players to change bounce angle by
manipulating the position of the clubhead and face. The idea
behind the ATV’s sole design was to use every curve, angle and edge to
make the club more versatile. Relief at the toe, heel and trailing edge
was intended to reduce resistance as it changed how the sole reacted
with turf and sand. Each ATV sole is slightly different, depending
on the loft.
•
“You won’t find a bounce number etched anywhere into the ATV clubhead
because the sole takes on different bounces depending on how you
position the club for the type of shot you’re hitting, including where
your hands are positioned in relation to the clubhead and depending on
whether the face is square or to what degree it’s open,” he says.

These wedge heads were
purchased from the TaylorMade Tour and Custom Departments and
assembled by an outside professional golf club-builder. Tour
department components are not always identical to their retail
version counterparts. There have been some running changes to the
assembly of these items and so there may be occasions when the grips
and ferrules may not match within a set but please be assured that
the basic technical playability remains the same.
